#HowToAdult: 5 Skills You Should Have Along the Way

It sounds great being your parents’ ultimate princess or prince getting all the stuff you need and being dependent at all times. But what does it take to be called a matured individual? Does age determine the prime of life?
Well, here are some tips that each of you should know before entering the real world and adulthood stage to conquer success and smooth path along the journey.

Consider Talking To Strangers
You were trained not to talk to strangers at your young age but let us face it, you will never survive this cruel world without jiving with other people.
Asking someone for directions, talking to a faculty, to managers, bank tellers, security guards, bus drivers, janitors, mechanics and name it, approaching a stranger is a required interpersonal skill. You can never go wrong when you try approaching some stranger along the way.

Practice Managing Workload and Deadlines
Deadlines and workload will not adjust for you. Though it is negotiable, we Filipinos have the diligence at work, but millennials today seem to lack discipline and patience. Learn to manage your time. You can be more productive by having a planner and listing all the stuff to be done. Take in mind, first things first. If everything is your priority, then nothing could probably finish.

Know Your Strengths and Weaknesses
You were uniquely and wonderfully made so don’t ever think you do not have any talents within. Singing, dancing, acting or in the field of visual arts, practice more and enhance what you have. And with those weaknesses you have, turn it into strength by doing more and focusing on what your strengths are.

 Learn How To Save
Describing your salary status as Dead on Arrival? Of course you wouldn’t want to tell this when you start working and enter the world of adulthood. A penny would not matter any way, just like saving 10 or 20 pesos a day. Having bigger amount soon would be easier that way. You can also search for tips online on how to effectively save even if you are still a student. There are helpful articles online or videos on Youtube that’ll help you to save more money at your young age! Or maybe you can ask your parents on how they would become your ‘partners’ in saving such money.

Take Risks
This doesn’t mean taking risks with you love life or career alone. In all aspects and decisions you make, learn how to have the integrity and right wisdom in doing such by thinking a thousand times first before saying a word, or simply making a decision. Never blame someone if you don’t succeed with your choices. Remember, you may fail but you are not a failure. Learn from your past mistakes and assess yourself what you can do in the future to avoid committing those mistakes again—building a new strategy leading to success.
