Time flies so fast and today marks the first of the so called love month. People celebrating Valentines with their partners may be thinking already what gimmick should you do this year. Or for the SSV or Samahan ng mga Single this Valentines, what would be the perfect plan to welcome this love season? Believe me friends, with all the enticing sale or adventure pagckages nothing still beats satisfying our food cravings.

Filipinos are naturally food lovers. That is why food hubs are scattered around the Metro promising one of a kind food experience. However with all the options we have selecting the best and convenient can be really difficult. But don't worry M's your tech buddy took over to gather 5 useful apps for the indecisive food hunters.

1. Zomato

- Have you ever heard about Urbanspoon? It used to be the #1 app for finding nearby places to eat at. With its spinner feature, you can easily discover new restaurants that are actually near you. Zomato acquired Urbanspoon in 2015, thus making Zomato the mostly used app for resto hunt. There’s no need to create an account for it, just launch the app, put your location and the home screen will provide nearby recommendations.

2. OpenTable

- OpenTable is not only a resto finder, but also a useful app that enables the user to reserve a table. No account creation necessary, and you can filter nearby listings according to distance, ost, rating, cuisine and neighbourhood. The quick reserve feature of OpenTable makes it different from all the other apps and it is excellent for those people who are in a rush and doesn’t want to wait for available seats. You can also pay your meal through OpenTable.

3. EatStreet

- Sick of pizza but you can’t go out? Well, EatStreet is the perfect app for youEatStreet makes the “I just want to eat at home” crowd convenient because of its one-tap deliveries. The app shows a list of delivery charges and minimum order that the user may avail. Individual listing pages include menu items that you can browse, hours of operation, and estimated time delivery.

4. GrubHub

- GrubHub is the original delivery-ordering app before EatStreet. Its interface is clean and navigable. The app also shows a list of restaurant categories, menu items, hours of operation, minimum order costs, delivery fees, estimated delivery times and reviews. There’s no need to create an account for this. Just choose your preferred restaurant and click the food that you like to order.

5. Yelp

- Yelp covers all kinds of businesses in its search, it’s actually good at finding restaurants that you and your friends might like. But there’s just a little problem with Yelp, there’s a controversy that the service of the app is not reliable, but there are still reviews that the app is really helpful in looking restaurants near you.

2016 has been a real challenge for us millennial. It has been a roller-coaster ride, that’s for sure. Even in technology, it had its fair share of twists and turns that marks the previous year different from others. Take for instance the well celebrated Virtual Reality. With just two lenses, you’ll get to experience a whole new dimension. From watching your favourite movie to exploring new video game- the VR will make you feel so near though so far. The rise of mobile apps such as Snapchat, Pokemon Go, and more also created a great buzz all across the world. Same with the much-awaited iPhone 7 which offered pretty good specs complimented with upgraded headphone, Jack which promised to cut off the usual cord hassles. And of course, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 that has been a pasabog last 2016.

There’s no denying technology has, and always has been progressive and rapidly changing. That’s the beauty of technology- it changes and so do we. And although 2016 has been an exciting year for techy millenial, this year promises to step up the game even more. For your pleasure we have listed 5 awesome technologies you surely shouldnt miss. It is a Lego-style bricks design with six flexible slots, which allows attaching, swapping, and re-arranging of parts (e.g. camera, speakers) in just a few seconds. The parts won’t fall off, because the frame is secured with durable latches. Google has confirmed the delay of the project, but hopefully, will be available this 2017.

Curious? You can check out Google's ARA smartphone link below for details

3. Fake news detectors

Triggered. Not anymore! Many of us have been fooled by fake news all over the internet. They’re everywhere- your newsfeed, your friend’s timeline, search engines, and so forth. Because of the fast spread of information, it has been hard to set apart fake news from the real one in an instant. That’s why Facebook, along with other social media sites, are reportedly developing solutions for the widespread problem of fake news. Technologist Daniel Sieradski has also developed a plugin called a BS Detector which flags up a warning when you’re about to open the link which may be from a questionable, fake, or satirical source. In real time, well see how these social media sites take this serious matter in their own hands.

http://cdn.bgr.com/2016/03/samsung-foldable-phone.jpg?quality=98&strip=all

Don’t just count Samsung out of the game just yet. In fact, a 7-inch curved and flexible device which you can fold like a wallet may just be a game-changer for smartphones. This device can be used as a 5-inch smartphone or a 7-inch tablet, it’s up to you. The idea sounds crazy, but Samsung believes it’s possible. Samsung has been working on foldable screens for many years now, with the codename Project Valley. Hopefully, Samsung’s technology will be available in the market this 2017.

This technology only proves that anything imaginable is possible. There’s no turning back now for the evolution of technology. The film Back to the Future II showed Marty’s self-tying shoes. Now, the brand Nike offers these kinds of pairs. In the same film, Marty’s kids are seen to be using a smart eyewear similar to the Virtual Reality device. The Star Trek franchise has also predicted several future technologies. The characters of the film are depicted to have a wrist-worn communicator, like the smartwatch we already have in the market. Who knows? If we have seen these technologies in the movies, we might even see it in real life...This 2017 maybe, right?

“Lazy millennials.” Are we going to allow laziness to be a quality used to stereotype millennials? Nuh-uh. Will that definition bring justice to who we really are? Definitely not. As the representation of the wi-fi generation, part of the society believes millennials are lazy – as they stay idle on Starbucks taking pictures to get hundreds of likes on Facebook; impulsive – as they tend to do things that are so out–of-the-box, people believe was such a stupid idea; and conscious – as they are too concerned with themselves, buying sale products online that are known for spoiling millennials for instant gratification. Hey, maybe all these qualities are interpreted in a wrong way.

Cafe or fast food restaurants either way you would definitely spot a millennial around. If not eating whats on the menu he or she would have a latptop on one hand or a smartphone rather. Usually most people would think, oh these youngsters are up for wasting time again. But now we shall cross that out anymore because the idle millenials is also active for something bigger. Take it from Eva Gutowski, a 22-year-old online sensation who has 4.6 million followers on Instagram, 2.2 million on Twitter and 7.1 million on Youtube. She was featured in Fast Company magazine as one of the social mediators saying how she was able to master turning ordinary events to a Youtube hit. She advertised for Proactiv and Sperry Top-Siders by creating webisodes and strategically endorsed them online. Her creativity makes way for her to earn sponsorships allowing her to do two things: travel - as she enjoys her lifestyle and earn money - by using the cheapest capital she could have - technology. And of course lets not forget our own pride. Meet Lloyd Cadena, a meme star who is a sure winner in his natural dramatization of our life dilemmas. Lloyd is not only successful in making his way on the internet but also in bookshelves. So why not liven up your inner documenter and post on SNS adding your witty hashtags, who knows you could be the next social mediator.

Millennials could be impulsive just because we have the courage to dive head first on a situation but that does not mean we don’t have enough oxygen tanks to gear us up for the awaited battle ahead. We tend to act on ideas that are alien and almost impossible that some would believe will not work. Don’t blame it on opinion, we have facts. There is a study that explains how productive employees could be if they are allowed to devote a part of their time through fun and creative activities. Voyager Innovations makes good use of this trivia as they implement a 80-20 rule where 80% of the day is focused on productive work while the other 20% for enjoyable activities. You would see their company’s workspace not only with the conventional office tools but also with waveboards, tennis tables, and even a karaoke machine. Imagine how interactive their office is! Beside, how often we need a break from stressful projects in school to create even more effective results? See, that’s the point.

Also we the mIllennials could be conscious not because all we think about is our looks and how people view us but because we simply came to know how to take care of ourselves making us role models to inspire others. Rock Health, a research firm focused on digital health pronounced how millennials become the top consumers of digital health tools. This study may be interpreted as how technology allows not only millennials but also other generations to be health-conscious by using innovative health-related products which is far more convenient and time-saving compared to a scheduled meeting with a gym instructor. Furthermore, how exciting it would be to try new digital products to be used in getting engage in physical fitness concerned activities.

Whether we like it or not some people would definitely jump into conclusions so fast without even taking a second glance to try to understand a person. A sure headache to bother ourselves with, right? So, as for a millennial like you and me, breaking the stereotypes the society assigned to us is a sure lot of work but as long as we know where the pedestal is going go and be proud of the labels after all we love to live differently.

The invention of mobile phones may be considered one of the most important breakthroughs that have greatly affected our daily lives. Almost everyone uses phones in almost everything that they do. Uses vary from being a mobile computer, radio, telephone, planner, entertainment device and many more.

Most of today’s populace cannot let go of their mobile phones due to its significant application to our daily activities. Majority of the people look at their phones at the very moment that they open their eyes when they wake up in the morning. Knowing how important mobile phones are to the current society, here are some tips that can help keep mobile phones powered up so longer, allowing one to work and play longer.

Tip # 1: Turn down vibrations.

Most believe that by turning on vibrations rather than using audio ringtones for notifications is a good way to save battery life, but in actuality, vibrations use up more battery than audio ringtones. Using ringtones create small vibrations in the speakers of mobile phones. Compare that small vibration to your whole phone vibrating.

Tip # 2: Dim your screen, shorten screen timeout or switch off your phone when inactive.

The Liquid Crystal Display of mobile phones takes a lot out of battery life. But by reducing the intensity of the brightness of mobile phones, or decreasing screen brightness will greatly save the battery life of smartphones.

Tip # 3: Charging mobile phones correctly.

One of the things most people can’t seem to follow is not properly charging their smartphones especially when they play games on their mobile phones. Every time mobile phones are charged, it reduces the capacity of the batteries in the phones especially if the phones are Nickel based batteries. When charging mobile phones, one must charge it to full rather than just charge it and pull it out whenever one wants. Not only does it save the battery of the phone, but it also saves one from additional repair costs or buying new batteries.

Tip # 4: Turn off network connections.

Disable Global Positioning System, Bluetooth, Wireless- fidelity, 3g, and 4g whenever not in use, since it makes smartphones work more thus shortening battery life.

A well- kept smartphone is a well- kept lifestyle. Treating tools and assets with care allows one to maximize their efficiency and use over a long period of time.

Let’s admit it, electronic gadgets is definitely a today’s must have. Almost everyone uses smartphones, laptops, cameras and other electronic tools.in order to stay connected and be able to perform most of our daily task. As the demand continues to grow, so is the emergence of different products promising better performance and one of a kind features. But wait before you decide to click that order button for that latest phone or buy the cute slim laptop advertised over your favorite blog, hear us out, your tech buddies as we run down some random beliefs that has been controlling our techy minds and decisions for quite some time.

Belief No. 1 “kapag mahal, maganda no doubt” Syndrome

It is no question that higher price products comes with impressive upgrades however increased in number of some specifications (or specs) does not necessarily make one good already. When planning to invest on gadgets better ask yourself first, in what purposes will you intend to use it? Is it for a heavy video and image editing over Adobe applications? Or constant use of big files for detailed task. Laptops, desktops or dual core devices can be line as one of your considerations. Meanwhile, netbooks and smartphones are great investment for faster web browsing and composing school and work documents. Emails and other instant communications are also best perform with these handy dandy technologies.

Belief No. 2 More Megapixel for Insta-worthy Photographs

On left, pictures from a 13 megapixel camera;
On right, pictures were edited through Snapseed, a photo editing application.
(photos from @OREOnnejustine on Instagram)

Every camera, DSLR’s or smartphones would always brag its upgraded camera megapixel. Most consumers have been blinded that the measure of good camera is based on the number of megapixels in its sensor. Well believe no more as the quality of digital camera photo is found to be determined by the type and size of sensor, its processor and optics. Image sensors (or the digital counterpart of camera film) consist of millions of light-sensitive spots which records information about what is seen through the lenses. The bigger the sensor the better images one get. Now people can be confident in choosing 16 megapixel digital camera with a larger image sensor over a 20-MP products with smaller one. But more importantly, proper lightning, angle and image concept is a collaborative factors to secure that instant like and share.

Belief No. 3 Why Save-up When You Have Powerbanks

Though extra life powerbank carries are unquestionably helpful, other options in maintaining that battery level is as easy as 1,2,3. Consider using audio ringtones for notifications as it create small vibrations in the speakers of mobile phones compare to vibrations alone. Decreasing screen brightness is also great in saving the battery life of smartphones. How we charge our phone has a directly effect to battery life as well. When charging, it must come to its full level rather than just charge it and pull it out whenever one wants. And last but definitely not the least, be sure to turn off network connections such as Global Positioning System (GPS), Bluetooth, Wireless- fidelity, 3g, and 4g whenever not in use as it lessens battery consumption. So the next time your messenger is not in use better switch your data off to enjoy extended free messaging later.

Belief No. 4 The Deadly Virus Chain

As phone charging through laptop or PC USB ports became possible, Window threats have also become ones concern. One may ask, will my phone get a virus too? The answer will be simply NO. Since viruses are design for a specific operating system, the attack on Windows will fail miserably with the operating system of Android, IOS or others. However, smartphones are to be treated differently. If the phone is infected with Windows malware, plugging it on one’s computer or laptop has the potential to harm the machine. To prevent this, one are advice to modify the auto-run feature in Windows. This part is responsible in enabling programs of files to run automatically when a device carrying it connects to a computer. Thus, making laptops or PC vulnerable to malwares including viruses. To know more about Autorun, visit https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/967715 for details.

Belief No. 5 Techy Stuff are for Computer Majors Only

Definitely a lot of people shares the same dilemma. Codes, viruses, and all other stuff concerning computers are heavily relied to those who majors on it and works with it. Though some situations justifies their assistance however there are times that even the simplest computer issues are being used to take advantage of others limited knowledge. But worry no more as solutions are readily available over the web. Tim Lenahan over Muo website elaborated five pages where PC repair can be anyone’s reach. These includes Fixing My Computer… 100% Free step-by-step Guide; Yahoo Answers – Computers & Internet Section, LaptopMag.com; Lifehacker’s Top 10 Computer Hardware Fixes and Upgrades and Fexed4Free.com Computer Category; and others tend to relay on the step-by-step.
